Ingrid Bock

Cello Artist

Cellist Ingrid Bock enjoys a wide variety of musical activities in Rochester, New York, as performer, teacher, and concert presenter.  She is a member of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, the principal cellist of the Rochester Chamber Orchestra, and the founder and director of Fortissimo!, Rochester’s summer chamber music festival.  Fortissimo! Inc. is in residence at Nazareth College, where Ingrid teaches chamber music, directs the summer chamber music camp, and coordinates an annual solo and chamber music competition.  She is a founding member of the Cello Divas, an ensemble performing throughout New York State and dedicated to commissioning new works and arrangements for cello quartet.  Highlights of the Cello Divas’ 2007 season include a month-long residency with elementary school music students and world-premiere collaborative performances with both the Rochester City Ballet and with another all-woman ensemble, Cello, of New York City.  For ten years Ingrid was a full time instructor of cello and chamber music at the Eastman School of Music’s Community Education Division, and was the coordinator of the summer chamber music workshop there.  She developed the string program at the Harley School, and for three years taught fifth through twelfth grade students there.  Ingrid received the Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees and the Performer’s Certificate from the Eastman School of Music, where she studied with Cleveland Quartet cellist Paul Katz.  Apart from her musical activities, she enjoys reading, Scrabble, baking, dancing, crafts, gardening, and caring for her six dogs and two cats.
