Cellist Ingrid
Bock enjoys a wide variety of musical activities in Rochester, New
York, as performer,
teacher, and concert presenter.
She is a member of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, the
principal cellist of the Rochester Chamber Orchestra, and the
founder and director of Fortissimo!, Rochester’s summer chamber
music festival.
Fortissimo! Inc. is in residence at Nazareth College, where Ingrid
teaches chamber music, directs the summer chamber music camp, and
coordinates an annual solo and chamber music competition.
She is a founding member of the Cello Divas, an ensemble
performing throughout New York State and dedicated to commissioning
new works and arrangements for cello quartet.
Highlights of the Cello Divas’ 2007 season include a
month-long residency with elementary school music students and
world-premiere collaborative performances with both the Rochester
City Ballet and with another all-woman ensemble, Cello, of New York
City. For ten years
Ingrid was a full time instructor of cello and chamber music at the
Eastman School of Music’s Community Education Division, and was the
coordinator of the summer chamber music workshop there.
She developed the string program at the Harley School, and
for three years taught fifth through twelfth grade students there.
Ingrid received the Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees and the
Performer’s Certificate from the Eastman School of Music, where she
studied with Cleveland Quartet cellist Paul Katz.
Apart from her musical activities, she enjoys reading,
Scrabble, baking, dancing, crafts, gardening, and caring for her six
dogs and two cats.
