Lisa Leonardi
Beethoven Orchestra Conductor
Lisa Leonardi has taught strings at all levels for the past
28 years. She is
presently the High School Orchestra Director in the Huntington
School District on Long Island.
She received her Bachelor of Music Education from the Crane
School of Music at S.U.N.Y. Potsdam and her Master of Music
Education from Syracuse University.
Lisa is active in many Suffolk County and New York State
music organizations. She
is an All State NYSSMA string adjudicator and an active performer on
the violin and viola.
She frequently performs chamber music with friends and is the
concertmaster of the Northport Community Orchestra.
For 15 years she was the violin revisionist for the NYSSMA
Manual and the orchestra music review editor for the School Music
News for a short time.
She has been the All State Orchestra Chairperson and Zone Chair for
the American String Teachers Association.
Lisa is a past President of the Long Island String Festival
Association and held many other Executive Board posts for that
organization, as well as for the Suffolk County Music Educators
Association. She is
currently the President-Elect of the New York ASTA chapter.
Lisa has taught at the ASTA String Camp in Fredonia and in
Ithaca for the past 9 years.
She especially enjoys guest conducting because she gets to
work with the most talented of
aspiring musicians in a
festival capacity.
